Abstract
This study was carried out to present the basic data needed for the establishment of management measures for the subjective symptoms of the musculoskeletal system according to the working postures of dental hygienists. The questionnaires, in which the answers were filled in directly by individuals, were distributed to those who accepted the offer and are in general hospitals, dental hospitals, private hospitals and so on during a month period between October 9th to November 2nd in 2012. The subjects were 80 people in general hospitals, 110 in dental hospitals and 60 in private hospitals which is a total of 250 people. Of these, 233 were retrieved and surveys with inappropriate or insincere responses were excluded. Hence, 230 surveys were used for analysis. Among these, those who responded that they have had musculoskeletal system disorder due to exercise or accident were excluded. For the data analysis, Stata(version 12.0 StataCorp LP College Ststion, TX, USA) program was used. 1. Looking at the subjective symptoms of pain according to bodily parts, the subjects¡¯ inadequate postures during examination or assisting examination were related to the parts that caused pain. In particular, when the neck is bent during examination, all the body parts investigated except the legs were shown to cause pain. 2. As a result of analyzing 49 people¡¯s management effect according to working posture among 147 people with pain, more than 90% answered that getting massaged was effective, more than 80% said physical therapy and herbal remedy, and exercise was less effective than other therapies. Management of pain for preventing work related pain is needed and for this, massage, physical therapy, exercise and so on have shown effectiveness. However, in order to reduce economic and temporal loss, an exercise education program that can prevent and manage pain should be developed to teach those experiencing pain in different working fields.
